#79 – Battlefield Thru

Alrighty, back for another episode of Battlefield Podcast. This time we tackle the usual mod updates, new Bad Company screenshots and renders, and we talk about the Fight for the Future tournament. There’s somewhat of an Australian flair to the show, what with NetGameRadio launching and a rather suspicious Aussie Frappr Shoutout.

It’s also movie time in this episode as we check out the trailer for the Chase at Fushe sequel, Siege in Songhua, and the latest Sir Community offering, Desktop Battlefield. We’re also on the Zune Marketplace now so all you Zune users, subscribe to us!

    I believe its pronounced “fee-you-shh-ay” or “Fewshay” Pass :P And “Song-hoe-a” Stalemate. No idea though. That Siege in Songua was the most cinematic BF video Ive ever seen. Wow And the Desktop video has to be one of the coolest ideas Ive seen. Very well done tech wise, the screen spazzed when he threw grenades down.

    And the guy from Canada in Frapper was me YAY! I was gunna do that looong ago but never got around to it.

    One comment about Battlefiel 3, I think that EA is the worst compny for making videogames. They only make games for money like NHL, NBA, NFS and so on. The games are seasonal games for quick money. Yea you get new controls and some quality animatons, but those will wear and tear after a while. Now the BF2 is a diffrent story because the programes had no idea how succesful their game will be. Now, it is over 3 years since its release and it is still a great game. I do not think that EA wanted this to happen because they had to support the BF2 with patched that massive community demanded, which in their eyes cost money. In addition, the final patch for the BF2142 took only a fraction of a time that took for the BF2. Finaly, the loyal comunity of BF players get dumped by EA when they decide to make BFBC for consoles ONLY, which require little on no support with patches. Now, what does EA wants the comunity to do after they fed them with PC’s BF2 and BF2142? To buy a X360 or a PS3? In addition they tell the comunity that there are not currently working on the BF series for PC. I think that BF2(142) is slowly dying because of the competetion and the most importantly time. Is the EA scared by the technical challenges to make BF3 for PC and a chance that players will be occupied by it for long long time? If the EA would not release BF3 soon, then the fans will move to other hot titles and not come back as easily as they came. EA need to keep in mind that videogames are another form of art and not a way to make quick money.

    Interesting take and I agree with you somewhat. However I do believe that BF3 is being worked on and BF Heroes is a separate project to tide us over.

    I agree… People are already jumping ship to play games like Call Of Duty 4, and others. There is still a big fan base for the BF games, and I sure hope BF3 comes out this year. It’s not the first time that EA has slighted the PC gamers! But they did come out with Crysis (which I’m glad of)… I just wish they would open some dialog on when BF3 if/will come out!
